Surviving the storm

This past weekend I spent 35 hours (including the two hours we were allowed out on Friday morning before the storm) in Hanson Hall, ate 10 Oreos, watched 5 movies, slept 2 nights in the coolest sheet fort, and survived one epic category four hurricane!
Gabe, Chloe, Michael, and I just after we arrived in Hanson for lockdown at 9:00PM Thursday (we already look like we are going stir crazy).

There was very little damage to the campus...A few fallen trees, a bit of the roof on Wright Hall was blown off, the platform to the float on Concrete Beach is missing... Which meant everything has gone back to normal already.  We are also very fortunate to have a large generator that can power the labs and inner campus.  I am happy to report, my coral are alive and warm and luckily survived the storm without constant water circulation, heat or light.

To celebrate our freedom we trekked all the way in to St. George's by foot to go to Fort St. Catherines Beach.  This beach is the definition of Bermuda's beaches; a long, beautiful, white beach with bright blue water.  The water seemed to glow because of all of the stirred up sediment from Gonzalo.
Teresa, Julia, Kaylee, Steph (back) and Camilla and I (front) in the sediment filled, yet still amazing water!
Loving the waves.

The funniest part of our perfect day was we got a ride back to BIOS in the back of a pickup truck.
