St. Lawrence University juniors and CC Room 304 residents studying abroad: Mia in St. George, Bermuda; Emily in Rouen, France; Emma in Delhi/Jaipur/Varanasi, India. Three roommates. One semester. 7670.5 miles of separation.
Yesterday we visited Jal Mahal, the "floating palace" of Jaipur. After a short ride on a wooden rowbo at with the carved head of an elephant, we arrived at the converted now-art museum with marble floors and golden ceilings. Following an informational tour of the paintings and murals (which I rarely heard...was too busy sneaking around the other rooms and taking photos), we climbed the staircase to the roof. Stepping onto the rooftop garden, the monsoon clouds seemed to clear, and sunlight shone from the golden chatris. The rooftop led into the lakewater, which in turn transitioned to Nahargarh Hills in the distance. It was the most beautiful and tranquil space I have ever experienced. Sahyli is already planning her wedding...
