Gombay Festival

As wiki states it perfectly: The Gombay Festival celebrates the the island’s blend of African, indigenous, Caribbean and British cultures, incorporating them over time into a unique performance art full of colorful and intricate masquerade, dance and drumming.
A line of Gombay Dancers
Gombeys were not viewed as a respectable art form by the island's ruling class and were banned by the slave masters. Slaves were allowed to dance only once a year and did so in masks in order to protest, without fear of retribution, the injustices done them by their slave masters.
Some young dancers waiting for their turn to show their moves
The age of the dancers ranged from 4-74 years old!  Along with beautiful dancing and drumming there was a variety of tents set up selling food and souvenirs.  Keeley and I got butterfly face paint!

Then the group went to a cool bar in Hamilton.
