Animal Invasion

Today alone I’ve seen monkeys, donkeys, cows, dogs, goats, chickens, cats, pigs, parrots, lizards, and WAY oversized rats…and that’s just on the streets of Delhi. The animal population here is almost as diverse as its human counterpart. Although it can feel like we’re living in a zoo when we hear monkeys chattering from the telephone wires overhead (they have SUCH bad balance) and dogs competing with human beggars for food scraps, it’s a BIG nono here to pet any of the animals. Rabies is always a threat, and even a puppy in the market isn’t safe for us. This rule has been one of the hardest things for me so far.

**UPDATE: Animals seen since writing this post:
-camels
-peacocks
-horses
-bats
